We had a dream that became a reality

We All Belong was a campaign built on a big dream—to welcome more people into the L’Arche Greater Vancouver community.

People who lived at L’Arche were aging, and many had mobility issues that required a fully accessible building. Our building on Sussex Avenue in Burnaby was over 50 years old and needed extensive upgrades. At the same time, there was an urgent need to support younger individuals with developmental disabilities with a variety of housing options and support models.  The building did not allow us to expand our residential capacity or community inclusion programs. Significant changes needed to be made.

Our New Building

  • Replaced three of our current homes for people with developmental disabilities with three fully accessible homes
  • Added 10 units of housing for individuals with a disability who could live more independently
  • Expanded our community inclusion programs, which provided volunteer, social and recreational opportunities
  • Provided 29 units of non-market rental housing for individuals, couples and families who wished to live in an intentional community setting and to ease the challenge of rent affordability

Thanks to our many generous and loyal donors we reached our fundraising goal of $6 million.  If you would like to set up a tour of our new dream home, contact development@larchevancouver.org
